#BookTalk- Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas

Queen of Shadow by Sarah J. Maas

She has done it again! Spinning a story of fantasy, adventure, and romance, Maas has buckled her fans into a whirlwind of emotions in her 4th book of the Throne of Glass Series.  If you love a battle of good vs. evil with magic, crowns and assassins through in, you should pick up Throne of Glass, and stop reading this post. So much has developed and I don't want the big juicey details to be spoiled for you. You may not know the importance in plot points by reading this but a warning is a warning all the same.

First Line: There was a thing waiting in the darkness.

Let us begin...

The assassin has returned as a queen, claiming her Fae powers and her birth right. Aelin is coming for blood and taking names. A war is raging, and soon Aelin is going to have to face brutal king that killed her family, and her people in order to reclaim her throne.

Characters

I cannot talk about the characters individually without giving away major plot points. All the characters, new and old, are reevaluating their lives. This could look like a brutal witch questioning her upbringing and lack of moral judgment. A courtesan revealing her truth to someone she once called an enemy. An assassin king...well he didn't learn much. Secrets are revealed and friendships are tested, bonds are foraged, and patience is broken, the characters look death in the face countless of times and never back down. As we go deeper and deeper into the minds of these characters, great things are revealed to the reader, not just in plot but in a moral understanding of people in general. It takes a look at the darkness inside of all of us, and reveals the light.

All in All

This is one of my favorite series. I would recommend it again and again. If you have read this book, I would love to chat with you about it! I can talk about this series all day and night.

HAPPPY READING!

#BookTalk-Sweet Temptation by Wendy Higgins

Sweet Temptation by Wendy Higgins

This is the companion novel to the Sweet Evil series, from the POV of the one and only Kai.

The Duke of Lust's son himself opens his mind to us throughout his journey with Anna Whitt starting from the very beginning. The readers get to see what is happening in the mind of Kai throughout the three books, which is quit a treat.

The 3 things that are different from Anna POV are as follows:

1. Being the Duke of Lust's son, there is always something dirty on his mind. But in all good Kai fun, of course.

2. You get to see more of Kai's feelings about Anna, his father and his life.

3. You get a taste of Kai's song lyrics and Wendy even takes the time to write song epigrams before every chapter...so Kai!

If you loved the Sweet Evil series, get ready to re-enter this awesome world again! The book should be hitting shelves on 9.8.15 !

#BookTalk- Saga by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples

Saga by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples

This is a graphic novel. Graphic novels are awesome. People should read more of them.

This is about two characters who are married and the wif
e just gave birth to a child. So beautiful. Okay I am holding out. The husband and wife are from two different places that are currently at war, so now people are trying to hunt and kill them. More exciting. It lends on the Sci-Fi side.

All in All

It is a quick and easy fun read. The art is so interesting as you get drawn into a place that is literally out of this world. My only regret is not getting the second and third ones when I was at B&N.

#BookTalk- Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott

This book is intense and emotional story about captivity. This book gave me chills and made my heartbreak, as I read more and more about Alice's captivity. Alice has been kidnapped by an older man, Jay, to be his lover...at the age of ten. She has been captive now for five year, and she believe now her story will finally come to an end, but things don't go to plan.

Character

Alice. My heart just squeezes tighter and tighter as I read more about her torture. I was rooting for her to runaway, to be saved..anything that would allow her to escape. She is so wounded, and starved that escape seems impossible...is impossible for her.

Plot

The book goes in and out from present to past, as it sets up the past five years. Alice endures great hardship and it is just gut wrenching that anyone would have to go through something so terrible.

All in All

This story carries that voices of many girls in captivity. Alice's voice carries volumes, as she tell a story of harrowing circumstances. This book is not for everyone, it just hits you, and scares you. It shows you how dark humankind can be. I read this book becasue it was only 170 pages, but now I am ready to read something super fun and happy. Somethings that makes me optimistic about humankind.

#BookTalk- You by Caroline Kepnes

You by Caroline Kepnes

This super creepy book will keep you at the edge of your seat, as you dive into the mind of a stalker and his obsession with a girl he loves. I highly recommend this book for those who are interested in walking on the dark side. But this book is not a warm and fuzzy love story, so beware. This stalker love story will keep your skin crawling.
