Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
First line: After a year of slavery in the Salt Mines of Endovier, Celaena Sardothien was accustomed to being escorted everywhere in shackles and at sword-point.
This book is awesome. Badass main character, and plenty of killing. This is my type of novel. I don't know why I like the dark side so much. Stealing, assassins, and deception is my thing. Is that weird? Maybe it is becasue I can't do those things in real life, that is why I gravitate towards them. But anyway....
Celaena is Adarlan's Assassin. She is great at killing people. Trained at age eight to be the best of her profession. But one day she was betrayed and now working in the salt mines. Where she works day in and day out in hellish conditions. One day she is given the choice to either work for her freedom as the King's Champion, the king's assassin, or die working in the salt mines. The king is the person who slaughtered her whole family and kingdom. Is the price too high for freedom?
Last line: She looked at his golden-brown eyes and all of the promises that lay within them, and linked her arm with his as she smiled. “Tell me tomorrow.”
Characters
Celaena. At age eighteen she is one of the most feared person in the kingdom. She is infamous. She is not only a professional killer, but a major reader. She love reading all kinds of books. Her room is littered with papers and books, she has read and reread. Even though her work is dirty, she is not. She loves wearing fancy dresses, and falling in love like the next girl. Don't be fooled by her strong exterior, she is just as sensitive or even more so as the next person.
Dorian. The Crown Prince at age nineteen. This father is a tyrant. Killing anyone who stands in his way. Dorian has a choice to make, to allow his father to go on destroying everyone or take a stand for what is right. Celaena truly does awaken something inside of him to stand up to his father. He is still trying to understand who he is as a leader.
Chaol. Celaena's trainer and Captain of the Guard at age twenty-two. Disowned by his own father for his position. He loyally serves the king, and is one to follow the rules and do what is right. When he first meets Celaena, he hated her. She was a criminal, a killer. He would not forget to remind people how dangerous she is. He will continuous remind her how she is an assassin and cannot be trusted. But Celaena has that effect of breaking people down. I don't think Chaol even remembers when his hate turned into care. Celaena is a firecracker, something is bound to blow up in her wake. Will he ever choose to forsake his loyalties. Or will he continue to blindly serve the king?

All in All
One of the best series that is a mix of fantasy, assassins and magic. I am so excited I don't have to wait for the next book (actually almost done with the second one). It is full as adventure, love, blood and guts, and all the awesome stuff. The reason I found out about this book was actually at BookCon. They had the third book on display and I asked the lady working there about it and she explained about the novel. I immediately loved the book, the moment she said assassin. You should join me on this magically adventure with Celaena, you will never want to put the book down.
