Tumble & Fall By Alexandra Coutts
First Line: The day she gets out, it feels like the end.
Another library trip had lead me to discover this book. I was returning my VA books, and I wanted a new read. I took too long to decide so my little brother was like try that book. So I took Tumble & Fall home with me.
The end of the world is coming, and everyone knows it. An asteroid is going to hit Earth. Three character: Sienna, Zan and Caden, are trying to find understanding before the thier time comes to an end.
Last Line: And they wait.
Characters
Sienna. One of my favorite POVs in the novel. First off she has a love story brewing, ahh too cute. But she may not be the best mentally stable person after her mom died. She is having trouble coping and the added news of the worlds demise is not helping to her mental state. Sienna tries to better understand herself, and what she really cares about in this world. She has to choose between family and her new love of her life, when deciding where to spend her last days.
Caden. His family is dysfunctional. One day he gets kidnapped by his own father, that he hasn't seen in six years. He learns the truth of his family, and realizes who he would rather spend the his ending days with. I liked his character because he still stayed strong in himself. Even when his father was giving him everything. He realized what was important. He did the right thing. Got to love that noble hero.
Zan. Her boyfriend died. She still misses him. She wishes he was still there. When she finds something that makes her question who he was, she goes on a journey to find the truth about him. I thought she was a little weird, like she talks (out loud) to her dead boyfriend. She has trouble moving on. It it is really sad, but at the same time is sweet to see how in love they were. Zan is conflicted with the idea of her boyfriend she thought she knew, and what she is now newly discovering about him.
Plot
Even though each story is different, it is all about family in the end. Family and love. The plot itself was underwhelming. Yes, there were some obvious eye opening moments. But nothing really to make you keep turning the page. When reading it I found it very interesting. It was all good, and exciting. But once I put it down, nothing was really making me go back and finish it.
I did enjoy the ending. Even though the world was coming to an end, it still ended on a high note. Everyone found what they were looking for, even when they didn't realize what it was at first. The quote on the cover was right: the end of everything is filled with beginnings.
All in All
Ehh. It was okay. It wasn't awful and it wasn't awesome. It was nice and a casual between book hangover read. If you like stories about journeys, and heart, then you should pick it up and give it a try. It is was like a relaxing book. Where everything happened just the way it should. It was written really well. The story had meaning. It was a nice realistic fiction, the world is ending book.
