#BookTalk- The Boy with the Hidden Name by Skylar Dorset

The Boy with the Hidden Name by Skylar Dorset

First Line: "You don't understand, miss," says a little man in an old-fashion bowler hat who is crawling out from underneath the bench I'm sitting in.

This book is the sequel to The Girl Who Never Was, if you haven't had a chance to read that book, backup and check out that #BookTalk. So we pick up from Ben betrays on Selkie after she confesses her love for him. Wow, can any say poor timing? And we can't forget the prophecy Selkie's evil mother for told, Benedict Le Fay will betray you, and then he will die. That is just a great start for a book, don't you think? Well that is were we are. Now Selkie and her friends have to race against a ticking clock, to save Otherworld and Thisworld from the rule of the evil Seelie Court.

Last Line: But that's just where our tale of faeries is beginning.

Characters

Selkie. A character that actually speaks all our minds. She gets thrown in strangest situations and acts like any rational human being...confused. There is a prophecy that said Selkie and four other half faeries are to save a world, she knew nothing about until her 17th birthday. With her power of naming, collecting things that always come in handy, and wise friends, all hope isn't lost as they try to beat the clock.

Ben. if you saw my other review, I wasn't too sure on Ben's character, but he grew on me. His actions are a bit misplaced, but he does care and love Selkie. And that love allows them to save each other from themselves. It is very admirable to see. Selkie doesn't forgive Ben so easily, and he has a lot of making up to do to get Selkie back...like they say never trust a faerie.

Plot

It ends. Be prepared to have the story end. Everything seems to happen in 310 pages. I haven't read a two book series in forever. But two books was good, in this case. I thought the ending was a little anti-climatic. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad. It had action, and plot twists...but when it was all said and done, it was just simple...anti-climatic. Let me put this in prospective: these characters jump through hoops, fall into traps, and race against time, and the key to saving the world is.....(well I am not going to tell you what it is) but just think of this when you trek all the way up a mountain and find that there is an elevator there the whole time. Damn right frustrating!

All in All

I loved this series. It was a great read to truly a book to relax and escape with. It has just the right amount of all the key fun loving fiction elements to be an awesome read, and not to much to stress me out. I highly recommend reading this book! Finish the series, it is worth it! Find out the power that is held in the words be speak and the words we write.
